5.7km for Mosiah The event: is the 5.7km Gold Coast Suncorp run. Held: on July 6th 2013. Our aim: is to raise $3000. Our purpose: to bring more awareness to Congenital Heart Disease in memory of Mosiah, and to raise funds for the Heart Centre for Children so they can help more children like him. Glen and Nichole running 5.7km together you say? Well yes it's true but we have a great motivation - our son Mosiah who died on the 18th of March 2009 from a congenital heart disease called Hypoplastic Left Heart Sydnrome. The purpose of our run is to raise more awareness of Congenital Heart Disease. Here are the facts: Congenital heart disease is the greatest killer of Australian kids under one Every day in Australia around six babies are born with a heart defect.  That's over 2000 each year. Every week, four precious lives are lost. There is no known cure or prevention. So if there is no cure what's the point you ask? Let m...

Join in the Color Run on 25 August

Posted by Kylie Flament on 16 May 2013
On Sunday 25 August, a team will be running, walking or crawling the 5km Color Run course while dodging colour bombs being thrown at us.  You start the event decked out in white and you're lucky if you can find an unblemished spot on yourself at the end of it.  We welcome anyone who would like to join our team to do so by signing up at http://thecolorrun.com/australia/sydney/ - our team name is Heart Centre for Children.  It should be a fun day out for adults and children, and a nice way to meet some of the staff that look after everyone at the Heart Centre.  Feel free to give me a call on (02) 9845 2326 if you would like to know more or are thinking about coming along.  We will also be fundraising for some much-needed equipment.  Every little bit helps!  Click here to make a donation. ...

Cupcakes at CHW

Posted by Kylie Flament on 23 April 2013
Selling CupcakesSeveral of the staff at the Heart Centre for Children were baking until all hours last night in preparation for a quick fundraiser in the main entrance of The Children's Hospital at Westmead.  The cupcakes sold out in record time and just over $500 was made, which has been added to our fund for a new cardiac ultrasound (echo) machine.  It was such a success that there are already calls for another baking table, so stay tuned.
